Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday accused Akali Dal Badal of violating the model code of conduct in state. The party has registered complaints regarding this in the office of Chief Electoral Officer.Addressing the media at Chandigarh, Aam Aadmi Party Human Right Wing head, Adv. Navkiran Singh said that the SAD candidate from Bholath constituency and son-in-law of senior SAD leader Bhupinder Singh has violated the guidelines of Election Commission of India by seeking votes on religious grounds. Showing a video to the media, Adv. Navkiran said that it was clearly visible in the video that Bhupinder was asking the voters of a particular community to vote for him depicting himself as the representative of Sant Prem Singh ji.Adv. Navkiran said that the party has registered a complaint regarding it to the Election Commission but the video is still available on the facebook page of Bhupinder. He said that the Election Commission must take action against him.
AAP leader said that in another case at village Hasanpur near Dakha, banners and painting of Akali Dal taking credit of religious visits were not removed even after the announcement of code. He accused Akali Dal of dividing people on religious lines and doing politics of religion.Showing photos of Akali leaders distributing sports kits in Rampura Phool constituency, Adv. Navkiran said that the police are facilitating Akali leaders in violating the norms. He said that a complaint was also made against Akali leaders of Kharar constituency for distributing LPG cylinders and stoves. He said that the response of EC is being awaited in this regard.Adv, Navkiran asked the people of state to inform the Election Commission of any violation done by political parties. He demanded installation of more paramilitary forces in the state to complete the electoral process smoothly.
