Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University at the Raj Bhavan here today and briefed him about the functioning of the University.Prof. Aima informed the Chancellor that: till date 13 national and 02 international MoUs have been signed by the University with different Universities and organizations; 81 teaching positions out of 160 sanctioned posts have been filled; the University has shifted its Administrative, Examination and Engineering wings and the Departments of Education and Environmental Sciences to its permanent Campus at Village Bagla; in 2016-17 the University has started  06 new Departments, 02 Research Centres and 01 Research Chair and is offering 34 programmes at Diploma (01), Under Graduate (02), Integrated (04), Post Graduate (15) and Research (12) levels.Highlighting the Research achievements, the VC informed that Dr. Pawan Kumar, Department of Nano Science and Materials, received research grant of Rs. 49.99 lakh from Science and Engineering Research Board and a Faculty Start–up research Project of Rs 10 lakh from the UGC; Dr. Tanuj Kumar, Department of Nano Science and Materials, received a research grant of Rs. 12 lakh from Inter University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi, and a research grant of Rs. 16 lakh from Science and Engineering Research Board, GoI. Dr. Pragati Kumar, Department of Nano Science and Materials, received a research Grant of Rs. 40 lakh from Science and Engineering Research Board, GoI, and a Faculty start-up project of Rs. 10 lakh from UGC; Dr. Deepak Kumar, Department of Plant Sciences, received a research grant of Rs. 43.99 lakh from Science and Engineering Research Board, GoI, and Dr. Shaweta Yadav, Department of EVS, has been selected for Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship this year. The University has sanctioned 06 Minor Research Projects to 13 Faculty members in 2016 and has been sanctioned a School of Education, with support of Rs. 7.50 crore, through the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Mission on teaching and training.The Governor emphasised the need to ensure the establishment of essential facilities in the University Campus, within a tight time frame, and the importance of continuing hard work by the Faculty and students achieving the highest standards in teaching, research and extra-curricular activities.
