RMSA organises orientation course for Vocational Teachers in Jammu

A four day orientation programme on developing vocational teaching skills was today launched under Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyaan (RMSA) in Jammu.The Orientation programme, developed in tune with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), has been organised for newly recruited Vocational Trainers of Jammu.State Project Director, RMSA, Saugat Biswas, while interacting with the 264 participants, had a detailed discussion on the expectations of education department from the trainers. Besides, sharing ideas to maximise their resources and overcome many geographical and logistic difficulties that they may encounter in their positions.Biswas informed that under this newly launched scheme, specialised vocational teachers have been recruited in all the 132 schools offering vocational education in the state. He further said that vocational courses are now available in the domains of IT/ITes, Healthcare, Retail and Travel/Tourism and the first batch of vocational course which starts in class ninth will impart skill training to over 6000 students of the state and make them employment ready by the time they pass out from twelfth standard.

State Coordinator, Vocational Education, RMSA, Shadilal Tengloo, informed that RMSA has recently launched online-MIS to monitor the implementation of the scheme in which real time data can be added to the software by the trainers as well as the principals of the schools and can be regularly supervised by various levels of administration.This orientation programme has experts participating from Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education, a specialised institute of NCERT and various Skill Sector Councils (SSCs) of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).Prof. Asfa Yasin and Prof. Vinay Mehrotra from PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education Bhopal are the resource persons for the programme besides master trainers in the domains of IT/ITes, Healthcare, Retail and Travel and Tourism have also been employed to familiarise Vocational Trainers with the industry demands.A similar orientation course for the Kashmir Division schools was held from 27th to 30th December, 2016 in which 132 newly engaged vocational trainers participated.
