DDC flags off orchardists’ tour

District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today flagged off the buses taking a batch of 80 progressive orchardists from different Panchayats of the district for one-day exposure-cum-training tour to different parts of the State.The tour programme was organized by Chief Horticulture Officer Ganderbal under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said the tour will help the progressive orchardists to acquaint themselves with the latest technologies being practiced in other parts of the State. He appreciated the efforts of Horticulture Department and stressed on more such programmes for capacity building and skill development of farmers for the development of Horticulture sector.It was said that during the study tour, the orchardists will visit SKUAST at Shalimar, various Regional Research Stations and other prominent places of horticultural importance to gain knowledge and technical knowhow of the sector.
