Terming the Aam Aadmi Party Party (AAP) as a group of liars and cheats, the Punjab Congress on Monday said Arvind Kejriwal’s party had lost all credibility by inducting a convict without bothering to verify his antecedents.Though the party had tried to go for damage control and expelled Navdeep Singh, who was sentenced to seven years in jail for an assault on a Dalit leader, the move had exposed its true face, said Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) leaders in a statement issued here. The fact that the convict was taken into the party fold along with the Dalit victim of his assault, as well as an eyewitness to the case, showed the complete absence of morality in AAP, the PPCC leaders said, adding that it clearly indicated the party was selling not only tickets but even membership, without any concern about the background, criminal record, etc of the candidates. With this development, AAP has also once again proved itself to be completely anti-Dalit, said PPCC leaders Kewal Singh Dhillon, Ch Surinder Singh and Balwinder Singh Laddi, pointing out that AAP’s own leaders and workers, including Yamini Gomar, had openly accused Kejriwal and his associates of following an anti-Dalit agenda. The PPCC leaders said the incident also gave credence to the statement of

Yamini Gomar, who joined the Congress on Sunday, that there was only a miniscule of AAP leadership who passed the 3C (free of corruption, criminal record and character).Meanwhile, referring to AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Waraich’s remarks that Captain Amarinder Singh would not be able to fulfill his promise to making Punjab drugs-free in 24 hours, the PPCC leaders attacked him for resorting to such blatant lies over such a serious issues.Captain Amarinder, they pointed out, had never mentioned 24 hours and had all along maintained that he would wipe drugs off the face of Punjab in four weeks – a promise that Kejriwal had been quick to copy. The Punjab Congress leaders said it was more than evident that AAP was a party bereft of any credibility or morality, with absolutely no presence worth mentioning in Punjab. Even the party’s top leadership was unable to draw crowds to their public meetings and rallies, showing that it had lost its ground completely in the poll-bound state. They cited media reports to point out that not a single trader/industrial leader had turned up on Sunday at the meeting of industrialists called by senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh In Bathinda’s Rampura Phool constituency.Kejriwal himself had failed to attract any crowds at his recent rallies, the PPCC leaders pointed out, adding that the party was clearly facing an identity crisis, which even the desperate efforts of its leadership were not helping to cover up.
