Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today released the Coffee Table Book on the glorious historical perspective and achievements of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (erstwhile Punjab State Electricity Board) since 1959.Speaking on the occasion S. Badal disclosed that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has brought out first ever document in the form of coffee table book in which long journey related to provisioning of power to the consumers at grass root level, power reforms and future roadmap of Punjab state have been highlighted.The deputy chief minister said this book highlights the rapid strides made by power corporation since its inception in 1910 in the field of generation, transmission and distribution of power. "It also brings to light the power deficit scenario before 2007 and showcases the turning point in achieving the status of power surplus with the untiring efforts of SAD-BJP government", he added.
He stressed that overall development of any state depends upon power generation for which more than Rs. 72,000 crore had been invested to increase power capacity from 6201 MW to 12,393 MW. Appreciating the efforts of principal secretary power A. Venu Parsad, PSPCL chairman and managing director Er. KD Choudhary and their team for bringing out this historic atlas, S. Badal expressed his contentment that various consumer friendly initiatives including adoption of IT techniques to provide better services to consumers were also incorporated in the book.Deputy CM also expressed satisfaction that with the relentless efforts of Punjab government and the PSPCL employees, the power utility had been awards with best digital PSU and A+ rating in 2016. Besides this, the power corporation had also been adjudged best power utility by Government of India in 2015.
