The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal today initiated the project of 4 laning the Ropar-Phagwara road from Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He also paid homage to the martyr at the latter’s memorial. The project ranging 80 KM would be completed in 2 and a half years time at a cost of Rs. 1500 crore.Addressing a rally on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the SAD-BJP alliance would contest the assembly polls on the plank of development and perform the hattrick of victories to serve the people of Punjab once again. He further said that during the past 10 years, the Punjab Government has effected rapid development in all the sectors including power, roads and infrastructure. He also announced that after victory in the 2017 polls, all the villages of the state would be developed on the urban pattern and concretized streets and drains apart from solar lights and surrounding road (Phirni) of villages would come up along with the streamlining of sewerage system.Branding AAP and Congress as the enemies of Punjab, the Deputy Chief Minister called upon the people of the state to give a befitting reply to these parties. He said that the various welfare centric schemes initiated by the SAD-BJP government has raised the standard of living of the people of Punjab.
Making a mention of the welfare schemes, he disclosed that the power surplus status for Punjab, excellent road network, shagan scheme, free health insurance scheme, free power worth 200 units to the SC-BC households, free atta-dal scheme, free medicine centers, free gas connections and free power to the farmers are the shining achievements of the SAD-BJP government.
