With an objective of providing better commuting means to the public of Punjab Rs.3698 crore spent for renovation, widening & strengthening of 34916 Kilometre roads out of which renovation work for 32268 Kilometre road stands executed and remaining work is being carried out at war front which will got completed soon. This was stated by Secretary Mandi Board, Punjab Mr. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu while laying the foundation stone for new road worth Rs. 24 lacs 12 thousand to be constructed at Landran.Mr. Sidhu said that 61436 kilometre link roads, 1836 grain markets and procurement centres of the state falls under the jurisdiction of Punjab Mandi Baord. He said that under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY)) work amounting to Rs. 867.85 crore for widening of 1347 kilometre link roads from 10 feet to 18 feet is being carried out in the state. Sh. sidhu said that Rs. 379.73 crore have been spent by Mandi Board during last five years to facilitate the farmers by providing new grain markets and up-gradation of existing ones.
Mr. Sidhu said that to encourage the farmers for crop diversification to cultivate maize crop rather than wheat & rice, modern corn drying plants amounting to Rs.19.40 crore have been established in the state so that farmers could gain more from the maize crop.During this Chairperson Punjab State Woman Commission Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landran said that this new road at landran will facilitate the traffic commuting at Landra T-Point and will facilitate the vehicle from Landran to Kharar & Kharar to Mohali. She said that the new road being constructed by Mandi Board will serve as bypass. During this chairman Block Samiti Kharar Resham Singh Baironpur, SC Mandi Board, T.L.Garg, Executive Engineer Inderjit Singh Brar, SDE Gurmeet Singh, Sarpanch Guljaar Singh Aujla, Ex- Sarpanch Sunder Singh and other reputed persons were present. During this special honour was given by villagers to Secretary Mandi Board Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu.
