Underscoring the importance of education in socio-economic development of the state, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said that education is a great leveler to bridge socio-economic gap in the society and it is the need of hour to impart the value-based education among the students so that they could understand the moral ethics of the society besides competing for their jobs.Chairing a review meeting at Rajouri, the Minister stressed the need for ensuring that quality education is being provided to the poor students in the remote areas of the district.The Minister said that the need for education is to train students to understand that ‘the aim of education is the overall development and not merely the bookish knowledge. “If our nation has to maintain its glory and become one of the top nations in the world, the way ahead is only through such an educational system which will make the students self dependant and full of moral values,” he said.

Calling upon the officers to enshrine the cultural, ethical and moral values in the minds of students in their schools, the Minister said that a good faculty is the backbone of an institution. “It is the work of the principals to guide the faculty to train the children who are the assets of the nation to serve their motherland,” he added.The Minister further said that schools have been set up with the objective of imparting a blend of traditional as well as modern education to the students and the teachers should made all efforts to inculcate the noble values among the students. The Minister warned that strict legal action will be initiated against those teachers who will fail to yield the desirable result. The Minister asked the Chief Education Officer to ensure that the basic infrastructure is to be provided to all the institutes.While reviewing the functioning of various departments in Darhal, the Minister stressed upon the concerned officers to implement the state and centrally sponsored schemes in letter and spirit so that the people at gross root level get benefit of these schemes. He also stressed for taking necessary steps to clear all the pending liabilities of the Department

The Minister asked the officers of Agriculture department for making necessary arrangements to provide best quality seeds and fertilizers to the farmers and further directed for adopting Pangnara village as model village under National Food Security Mission.“Since large number of people of the district are already associated with agriculture and fruit growing sector there is a need to improve the quality of these sectors so as to fetch the desirable returns. For the economic growth of the district, Horticulture and the allied sectors can prove a long way as the diverse agro-climatic conditions of this district are suitable for growth of all types of fruits, nuts and olive as well as best variety of apple, “he said. He asked the concerned functionaries to supply best plant material to the farmers which is easily available in the state.Expressing dissatisfaction over the delay in completion of developmental projects due to litigations, the Minister said that the developmental objective of the government could not be executed well in time and the target population could not get benefit. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to convene a joint meeting of the concerned departments with PWD and police department so that pending cases could be sorted out.Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed, Director FCS& CA, G S Chib Additional District Development Commissioner, AS Chib ACR, Paramjeet Singh Chief Education Officer, Altaf Hussain, DSHO Sarfraz Naseem Choudhary, DAHO Dr. Ismail besides the other district officers were present in the meeting.
