A meeting of Departmental Related Standing Committee (DRSC)-II of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ramesh Arora here today to review the functioning of Rural Development Department, Power Development Department, Social Welfare, Agriculture and Forests departments.Legislators, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Firdous Ahmad Tak and Ghulam Nabi Monga also attended the meeting and gave suggestions to make the Departments more vibrant and people friendly in all respects.Discussing the working of the Departments, the Committee stressed on the concerned authorities of Rural Development Department to implement the schemes including MGNREGA, IAY, PMAY, CD & Panchayat, 13th FC and 14th FC in letter and spirit so that the people at gross root level get benefitted from these schemes. It was also stressed on the concerned to take necessary steps to clear all the liabilities of the Department.While reviewing the Power Development Department, the committee asked the concerned to improve the working of the Department and take necessary steps for uninterrupted supply of power for the convenience of people. It also asked the concerned for taking necessary steps to reduce the power losses.
Commissioner Secretary, PDD, Dheeraj Gupta briefed the committee about the overall working of the Department, besides physical and financial achievements registered by the department so far.Reviewing the functioning of Social Welfare Department, the Committee asked the concerned to implement State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes in letter and spirit like AASRA, Ladli Beti so that needy get benefitted from these schemes. It also asked the concerned for clearing all widow pension and other pending cases of different schemes carried out by the Department. Director Social Welfare, Jammu elaborated the committee about the present status of different schemes and steps taken for improving the working of Department. Taking review of the working of Forest Department, the Committee directed the higher authorities for proper implementation of Wild Life Act in the state so that Forest Land could be save from encroachers. eviewing the functioning of Agriculture Department, the Committee asked the concerned for making necessary arrangements to provide best quality seeds, fertilizers to the farmers. The Committee also sought detailed report on overall working of some Departments to be furnished to the Council Secretariat for scrutiny.The Committee took serious note for non-submission of reply and physical presence of authorities of Revenue Department.Among others, Financial Commissioner, Agriculture, Pramod Jain, Secretary Social Welfare, Secretary, Agriculture, Managing Director, JKPDC, Managing Director, SC, ST, BC Development Corporation, Director, Finance (PDD), Director, ICDS, Director Agriculture, Jammu, Director Social Welfare, Jammu, Director Command, Director Finance, (Agri), besides senior officers concerned Department and Council Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
