Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi (SAW), the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was Monday celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across the Valley. Thousands of devotees thronged the Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of the Prophet (SAW) of Islam. Emotional scenes were seen at the shrine while the holy relic was being displayed. Men, women and children, young and old were loudly reciting Quranic verses while having the glimpse of Holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).The devotees across Kashmir also observed the night long prayers at various mosques and shrines. However, the large gathering of devotees was witnessed at Dargah Hazratbal.Apart from offering prayers, people had decorated their respective areas including Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Khanka-e-Moulla, Khanyar, Rajouri Kadal, Ali Kadal and other areas with banners and flags that reading wide range of Islamic teachings and verses of holy Quran.Various religious, social and business organisations also greeted people on the occasion while local traders had decorated the markets and had announced discounts on various items.

Various Milad processions were also taken out across the state where speakers threw light on various aspects of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).The Milad processions were carried out from various masjids and shrines also including Saboor Bab Sahab shrine at Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal Masjid, Dalgate Masjid, Aali Kadal Masjid, Khanka-e-Moulla shrine and others.A huge Milad procession was taken out by Karwan-e-Islam chief, Ghulam Rasool Hami at Shaheed Gunj in which hundreds of devotee’s participated. The car procession started from Karwan-e-Islam Shaheed Gunj office and culminated at its Shadipora in the outskirts of the city.Devotees from far flung areas of the Valley had arrived at Hazratbal shrine last night in order to offer morning prayers. Most of the devotees KNS talked to, said that the arrangements put in place by the Waqf Board were disappointing.Manzoor Ahmad, a devotee said the arrangements that were put in place by Wakf Board were disappointing. “Most of the devotees offered prayers without prayer mats. Authorities in the Wakf board should have been made at least satisfactory arrangements for the devotees who thronged the shrine today from various far flung areas,” he told KNS.

The Traffic Police department had also made l arrangements for smooth movement of people to and from the shrine. Besides private and public transport, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) were pressed into service for ferrying the large number of devotees.Special prayers were also organised at Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).In Budgam, prayers were held throughout the day at Ziayarat of Hazrat Syed Hussain Simnani (RA) and Charar-e-Sharief.Reports from south Kashmir said that thousands of people offered prayers at Masjids and shrines in Anantnag mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan. People also took out Milad processions from other parts of the district. Also special prayers were also held for those who were killed, maimed and blinded during the current unrest in the Valley.Reports from Kargil said that thousands of people celebrated Eid Milad-u-Nabi (SAW) in the town. In the day long function, religious scholars threw light on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). They also emphasized the need to follow the Islamic teaching as per the Quran and the Hadith.There were reports of congregational prayers from Ganderbal, Bandipora, Sopore, Kupwara, Handwara and other places of north Kashmir. 

Similar reports were received from other districts and Jammu region.In Baramulla, Eid Milad was celebrated with huge enthusiasm with thousands of people amid shivering cold participated in the Milad procession.Thousands of devotees took out a rally from the shrine of Syed Janbaz Wali Shrine and marched through the main market of the town.Similar processions were reported from Ganderbal, Bandipora, Pulwama, Shopian, Tangmarg, Anantnag, Beerwah, Kangan, Sumbal, Hajin and other places.In different areas of Pulwama including Kakapora, Pampore, Patipora, Hadiwara, Alochibagh, Gadoora, Munghama and Muran massive Milad processions were taken out in which thousands of people participated. In Budgam, prayers were held throughout the day at Ziyarat of Hazrat Syed Hussain Simnani (RA) and Charar-e-Sharief.In Baramulla thousands of people assembled at the shrine of Syed Janbaz Wali at Khanpora this morning where from a huge procession was taken out. The devotees while reciting Quranic verses marched through the main Chowk of the town and later the march culminated at Dargah-e-Aalia old town Baramulla.In Kishtwar, Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) was celebrated with religious zeal and fervour.Several Milad processions were taken out in the town in which the participants recited Durood.Thousands of people took out Milad procession from the historical Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah. The procession passed through various streets of Bhaderwah town and reached back to the Jamia Masjid. (KNS)
