Police detain Er Rashid during protest , Says don’t snatch rights of Kashmiris

Police on Saturday detained Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid along with scores of party activists after they carried out a protest march against human rights violation in Kashmir.The activists of the party alongwith their president assembled at Rashid’s Jawahar Nagar residence and carried a protest march while carrying balloons with black flags and banners in hands.The protesters were chanting slogans like ‘we want Right to self-determination’ and marched from Jawahar Nagar to SHRC office.Police however stopped the protesters from marching onwards from raj BaghHowever, the protesters staged sit-in during which Er Rashid addressed the gathering and said that the human rights violation in Kashmir is an alarming situation. “The rights have been snatched from the people here. We (Kashmiris) must be given at least the rights of animals,” he saidRashid appealed that the rights of Kashmiris must not be snatched.He said that the continuous civilian killings in Kashmir are glaring example of human rights violation in Kashmir.Rashid said that the people here are fighting for the demand of Right to self-determination and will continue to fight till the demands won’t be fulfilled.Meanwhile, police asked the protesters to conclude their protest while the protesters continued with their protest raising anti-government slogans.However, police swung into action and detained Rashid alongwith scores of party activists and lodged him at Police Station.
