The First Women Sports Leaders Conference In Sharjah to be Held on Tuesday

On next Tuesday, 13 December, The Sharjah Women Sports Foundation’s (SWSF) gymnasium will serve as a platform for a crucial gathering in this part of the world – the Sports Leaders Conference – a convention dedicated to discussing ways in which the status of women’s sports in the UAE can be advanced. Ognaised by the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare and SWSF, the conference will be held in the presence of Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development. It will bring together 30 women’s leaders representing women’s committees in sports associations, who will discuss a number of sport-related topics and explore areas that need to be enhanced in ways that can be beneficial to the womenfolk in the country.

The event aims to highlight the relationship between women's participation in sports and attractingqualified sportswomen whocan contribute significantly to the nation’slocal sporting scene through their talent and training. It will also discussthe numerous challenges, which face women in sports even today.The conference seeks to encourage women’s participation in sports activities, and increase their competitiveness through various development programmes, which SWSF plans to organise in the near future. The recently launched SWSF strives to establish a modern and integrated system to promote women’s sports in the emirate of Sharjah in accordance with the best international practices. The foundation aims to empower national competencies and develop human capital in the field of women’s sports, nurturing a qualified generation of sportswomen leaderships in collaboration with international sports organisations. It also continually strives topromote ahealthy physical culture by creating an environment conducive to women’s sports and provide high-end services to target categories.
