Cheema Announces To Provide Jobs To Next Of Kin Of Deceased Teachers Within A Week

Expressing solidarity with the families of the 12 teachers who were killed during a road accident this morning, the Punjab Education Minister Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema today assured the aggrieved families that the state government would provide jobs to next of kin of the deceased within a week.Interacting with the family members of the deceased teachers during his whirlwind tour to Abohar and Fazilka here today, the Education Minister expressed profound grief and sorrow over this tragic incident. He said that the state government would extend fulsome support and cooperation to the distressed family members in this hour of crisis. Dr. Cheema said that he had asked the District Education Officer to ensure that the requisite formalities for giving job to next of kin of the deceased teachers were fulfilled at the earliest so that they could be given jobs within a week. He directed the DEO to depute special staff with family of every deceased teacher to ensure that the necessary formalities were completed at the earliest.

Mourning the sad and untimely demise of these teachers, the Education Minister said that it was a colossus loss for the entire state. He said that these teachers were acting as a catalyst for spreading the light of education particularly in the border areas of state. He further said that the untimely death of these teachers was an irreparable loss for people of region in general and aggrieved family members in particular.Sharing grief with the family members, Punjab Health Minister Chaudhary Surjit Kumar Jiyani also mourned the sad demise of these teachers. He said that the death of these teachers was a huge loss for the entire state especially for this border district. Sharing his heart felt sympathies with the members of bereaved family, Chaudhary Jiyani prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to bear this huge loss in this hour of grief.Meanwhile, taking cognizance of grave insensitivity of 11 teachers who have sought transfer during his visit to the district, Education Minister Dr Daljeet Singh Cheema has asked the DPI (Schools) to issue show cause notice to them.Deputy Commissioner Ms. Isha Kalia was also present on the occasion.
