Stating that Jammu and Kashmir Police is a threat to his life, Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid on Thursday alleged some black sheep’s among police are defaming the entire department.“Jammu and Kashmir Police will be held responsible if any untoward incident will happen with me as the department is a threat to my life,” Rashid said while addressing a press conference here at local hotel.According to KNS correspondent, he said that no doubt there are good persons in the police department but some black sheep’s in the department are defaming the entire department.“I want to inform the whole nation that I am not scared of police officials but they will be held directly responsible if any untoward incident will occur with me as i have been assaulted several times so far,” he said.Giving details about when and how he was assaulted by police officials, Rashid said, “After filing nomination papers in 2014 assembly elections, security agencies tried to carry out suicide attack on me but after being elected, a section of police officers left no stone unturned to harm, pressurise and humiliate me.”He said that the murderous attacks at Bhamla and Baderwah on him under the supervision of local police officers are still haunting him and are in memory of everyone. “It is irony that while I was booked at Pulwama for some argument with a BJP worker, Police has informed High Court that it is yet to identify the culprits involved in the attacks on me, despite the facts that not only video evidences are available but a couple of right wing fanatic organisations have claimed responsibility at the site of the attack in presence of police officers,” he said. The MLA Langate said that when his movement was restricted to the extreme extent, the High Court was pleased to direct the State government to allow and ensure his free movement.

“Police is treating itself above the law, stopped me at Patnitop on my return from Jammu on December 2. There can be nothing shameful than the fact that the senior police officers stopped me at Patnitop and introduced a group of 10-12 civilians requesting me that they want to interact and serve me with a cup of tea,” he said.Rashid said that they put a garland round my neck and “I had no option but to accept the invitation. “I was surprised when they accompanied me and then took me to a police station and after tracing their identity they were all police cops in civvies and were belonging to Hindu community.”He said later in the evening he was allowed to move but under a well crafted plan a murderous assault was carried out on him near Khanabal. The AIP president added that after police authorities failed to take any concrete action against the “goons in uniform” he filed a complaint before the CJM Anantnag, who has taken the cognizance of the seriousness of the matter and have also brought a privilege motion against DIG South, SSP Anantnag and others. He further said that Kashmiris are not Pakistani’s. “Don’t label Kashmiris as Pakistani’s as we are Kashmiris. Kashmir is neither land of Pakistan nor of India as it is the land of Kashmiris,” he said.Meanwhile, Rashid said that on December 10, Human Rights Day, the party has decided to carry put a peaceful protest march from Sher-I-Kashmir Park to State Human Rights Commission against the human rights violation in Kashmir.
