Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today laid foundation of girls’ hostels at Gogjipathri and Surisyar in Chrar-e-Sharief constituency. The construction work on both the hostels will be executed under Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 4.53 crore.Addressing the people after laying the foundation of the hostels, the Minister said the upcoming facility for the girl students will them in pursuing the requisite education in their respective fields. He said the hostel facility will encourage the parents to send the girl child for further education and pave the way for them to take up careers of their choice. He said both the hostels will accommodate 100 girls each.The Minister said the government is serious towards redressing the issues of the people and the execution of hostel works is a step fulfilling the long pending demand of the people of the area especially girl students. Mr. Hanjura said that several initiatives are in pipeline and will soon be executed for further development of the area.On the occasion, the Minister highlighted various centrally and State sponsored schemes and programmes and urged masses to avail maximum benefits of the same. He also asked the district administration to reach out to the people and sensitize them about the welfare programmes implemented by the government so that they can be benefitted.District Development Commissioner, Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
