Dal Lake Shikara Union (DLSU) on Monday staged protest against the government for ‘failing to rehabilitate them after the 2014 deluge hit Kashmir’.The protesting Shikara union members assembled in the interiors of Dal Lake and were chanting slogans like ‘we want Justice’.They were demanding fulfillment of their demands.According to protesters, “We suffered tremendous loss in 2014 deluge but unfortunately government so far failed to rehabilitate us.” They said that their business is almost on the verge of closure. “We went from pilar to post but to no avail,” they said. The protesters said that a few persons here were rehabilitated but the government has left almost 90 per cent of traders here to suffer as no compensation was given to them. They said that the government has left them on god’s mercy as they hardly bother to redress their grievances. “We must be provided compensation so that we can start our business again,” protesters demanded. They later appealed government to look into the matter and fulfill their demands at earliest.
