Kavinder Gupta reviews relief, rehabilitation measures for Narwal fire sufferers

Speaker, J&K, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today visited  Narwal to take stock  of measures  underway  to provide relief to the victims of Narwal  fire tragedy  that resulted in the loss of 3 precious lives.Vice Chairperson, Indian Red Cross Society, Avinash Rai Khanna and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Arun Manhas accompanied the Speaker during the visit.The Speaker while distributing relief material among the fire tragedy victims   said the first priority is to provide them necessities like shelter, food and medical care. He said the district administration has consistently been working in tandem with the Red Cross society to provide immediate relief to the victims. The people have been provided temporary shelters in the form of tents with canvas sheets for the base along with two blankets per family. Further, 5 kg rice per family and utensils have also been made available to these families.

The Speaker asked the District Administration and Red Cross society to organize a medical camp for the people living in the encampment to minimize the possibility of any outbreak of disease in the area.Addressing the concern for water shortage, the Speaker assured the people that directions have been passed and work is underway for lying of water mains by the PHE department in the area which will benefit the whole area.Later, the Speaker took an extensive tour of Babliana, Bandurakh, Kaluchak areas and reviewed the pace of ongoing development works in the area. He also took note of the demands raised by locals in the area and assured them that necessary action will be taken at an earliest to address all their genuine concerns.While reviewing the progress on construction of Bandurakh Bridge on Kunjwani-Bishnah road, the Speaker directed the executing agency to ensure construction of the bridge within stipulated time frame to avoid inconvenience to the people. He instructed for creation of alternate pathway to facilitate vehicular traffic   till the main bridge is completed.
