Sirsa , 26 Nov 2016

Hurdles, financial and physical could never be a deterrent for Dr Ramji who has decided to lead from the front a mission to spread the fragrance, literally. He aims to distribute one crore flowers’ saplings and seeds each year since the last six years.  This is a story of victory of unthinkable courage, action and hope over being a helpless bystander as most people do.Dr Ramji Jaimal, a qualified Ayurvedic doctor and a farmer who hails from a village Darbi in district Sirsa of Haryana. He had a serious injury that he suffered in a tube-well  accident but did not let the injury and the financial hardships to shatter his courage and the passion. His passion came out in the form of love for flower-beds spread over across villages, cities and for that matter of fact the entire nation or the world, may be. And the most interesting thing is that he distributes these saplings to general public free of cost. Idea is to spread the fragrance around.

He has taken a vow to replace dirt with flowers in his own campaign that he runs single-handedly. Dr Ramji, uses over two acres of  his scarce  land for planting seeds and saplings.

Each year, he plants over one crore seeds of 24 varieties of flowers including Calendula, White stock, Flox, Holyhock, Cosmos, Marigold, Dahliya, Daisy, Poppy, Ice, Aster, Gzania and many more. Once planted, these plants spread their glory for 4-5 months where they go.He starts with his mission on 2nd of October each year by planting the seedlings. Soon after the saplings are grown enough to be planted at other places, a word is spread to collect the saplings. A Non Government Organization “AAPSI”  plays the key role in spreading the information to various Government and private schools, municipalities and panchayats to collect saplings for their premises. The idea is to  cover village parks, guest houses, colonies, industries, road sides and even individual households.AAPSI  led by Dr Ramji Jaimal has been distributing around one Crore flower saplings free of cost all over to the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.Target for this year was to distribute 150 lakh plants. So far, 125 lakh saplings have already been distributed and the rest 25 lakh will be distributed within a week or two. On an average , over 10 lakh saplings have been distributed daily. It is worth mention here that the demand for flower saplings has gone so high during all these years that individuals and organizations start queuing up in front of  Dr Ramji’s place. People from all walks queue up coming by all sort of transportation means  such as two-wheelers, cars or pickup wagons. People from far off places come by roadways buses and trains to collect the saplings. At the nursery, the plants are counted variety-wise, by weight and then treated with antifungal solution so that they remain safe till they are finally planted. Since, people who come from far off places and it may take 3-4 days to plant the saplings, the anti fungal treatment is a must.

Saplings are finally distributed by weight and wrapped in damp newspapers for safe transportation. The success rate has been reported extremely high. These saplings are so much in demand that people start calling up Dr Ramji to reserve saplings for their institution 2-3 months in advance.Workload during distribution can be measured by the routine of  Dr Ramji that starts as early as 4 in the morning. He prepares packets of sapling himself. The distribution goes on till 10 at night. The serpentine queue does not allow him to have a lunch-break. Once the distribution went on till 2 am into the night. No wonder Dr Ramji has been elected as Zilla Parishad member for the term 2016-20. Imagine the joy public has when they see flowers, quite unexpectedly , in far off nooks and corners of these states... It gives some solace to their hearts and some positivism is spread all around.  If each one of us vows to take one positive step of planting one sapling then India will have 130 crore saplings and the world can certainly be a better place to live in...Dr Ramji Jaimal can be contacted on Mob 09416241910, 08689041910. This information was given by Sh. Sunil Kumar Gulati, IAS Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana on behalf of the NGO “AAPSI”  who requested that let us all cooperate and help make this mission a grand success so that the fragrance and Beauty of Nature enriches lives of all countrymen. He informed that Dr Ramji has requested patrons to give back seeds so that next year he can plant 20 crore plants and distribute them and start replicating the process on their own...
