The Committee on Public Accounts of Legislative Assembly today directed Irrigation and Flood Control Department to complete the Irrigation projects within the set timeframe.The Committee which met here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mian Altaf Ahmad discussed CAGs Audit paras pertaining to the PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Departments for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15.  The House Panel also reviewed the functioning and achievements of the Department.Legislators, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar, Javed Mustafa Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Rajesh Gupta and Qaisar Jamshed Lone attended the meeting and gave their suggestions on vital issues. The Members laid stress on the early completion of Irrigation and Water Supply Schemes mentioned under departmental Audit paras.

The Committee directed the concerned authorities to take up the matter regarding funds with concerned ministry, so that the ongoing projects/schemes could be completed without any further delay. It was also directed to complete Thumba Nehoti Gravity Canal (extension scheme) of Irrigation Department by the ending March, 2017.Commissioner Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control briefed about the present status of Irrigation and water supply schemes and projects mentioned by the CAGs Audit paras pertaining to the Department, besides physical and financial achievements in various sectors. Accountant General (Audit) J&K, H. Abbas, Chief Engineers, I&FC, Kashmir and Jammu, Chief Engineer, PHE Jammu, Chief Engineer, RTIC, Jammu besides senior officers of concerned Department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
