Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today attended the closing ceremony for 'Display Your Talent' festival organized by District Task Force, Jammu under the Beti Bachao Beti Padao (BBBP) Scheme.While addressing the gathering, Kavinder Gupta said that organizing functions like this will instill confidence and self actualization in girls, besides providing a platform to compete and excel in the creative fields. He further said that events like these will go a long way in raising awareness about the BBBP scheme among people and creating a civilian force to battle the social issues like female feticide, child marriage.The Speaker appreciated the initiative by District Administration Jammu to encourage girl participation and raise awareness about the Beti Bachao Beti Padao Scheme. He exhorted upon the continuation of such efforts to achieve the objective of bringing out the hidden talent and caliber of girls.
The Speaker also presented medals, cash awards to winners and congratulated them on their upcoming Bharat Darshan trip. He urged the children to take this opportunity to learn about the nation and various cultures that form the identity of India. Certificate of participation were also distributed among all participating girls.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh informed the gathering that the four days festival was simultaneously held at Police Auditorium, K.L Sehgal Hall and GGHSS, Canal Road.A total of 1025 girl students of around 105 Government schools, exhibited their talent with confidence, winning the hearts of audience. The events included as part of the event were Rangoli, Elocution, Painting, Classical Vocal Solo, Light Vocal Solo, Poetry Recitation, Essay Writing, Debate and spelling competition whereas in Group Category, events included were Group Song, Quiz, Group Dance, Folk Dance and Skit.
Director Doordarshan Jammu Anjali Sharma, ADDC Jammu Anuradha Gupta, officials from the department of School Education, Planning, Staff from government schools along with students and parents were also present on the occasion.
