Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said clear instructions had been given to soldiers to fire and kill the enemy troops and not wait for the latter to fire.Speaking at a rally in Cuncolim assembly constituency in south Goa, Parrikar said the focus under the BJP-led government at the Centre was to make the country's borders safer. "My clear directions are: If someone comes with a machine gun to fire on you, finish him off before he fires, because (otherwise) he will finish you. We were thus able to give a proper response to our enemy," Parrikar said. "...after the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to power at the Centre, our attention was devoted to making the borders safer," Parrikar said.
