Lucknow(IANS) , 11 Feb 2014

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar Tuesday put the onus of electing Narendra Modi as prime minister on Uttar Pradesh, saying BJP workers and supporters should ensure a minimum of 50 seats from the state in the party's kitty. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader also said that the Lokpal was not enough for weeding out corruption and rather suggested that the antidote to the malaise was Modi as prime minister. Here to attend an 'Intellectual Convention' of the party, Parrikar also suggested that such meets should also be held in the villages. Attacking the father-son duo of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Parrikar said that both these leaders were plundering the state coffers.

He also pointed out that while UP had big time potential in the tourism sector, it had failed to develop owing to the poor law and order situation. He also took a jibe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for "entertaining" the people of the union capital by his sit-ins and protests. Referring to his state, the BJP leader said that the state had 34 percent Muslims and claimed that they were with the party. "We have fulfilled 75 percent of the promises we made in our poll manifesto within two years," he added.
