Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal today stressed upon the need for giving a big-boost to Indo-Pak Games to restore the preeminence of Asian Countries in the Sports arena. Speaking at the prize distribution function of Asia Kabaddi Cup here today,  Badal said that there was urgent need to organize games between the teams of Eastern and Western Punjab more frequently to give exposure to budding players and nurture them for international experience.  Badal said that time has come that Asian countries would have to chalk out a collective strategy to hone the talent of its budding players so that we can prepare them for cut throat international competitions.Dwelling upon steps taken by Punjab Government to boost sports culture in the state,  Badal said that during last five years 14 stadiums at the cost of Rs. 214 crore were built and most modern sports infrastructure provided to the players. He said that he was focusing on the traditional games of Kabaddi, Hockey and Football as these games were least expensive games and were quite popular amongst the village youth. He said that by chanellising the energy of youth in the games, we can distract them from the drug addiction. Underlining the need for mutual exchange program of expert coaches between two Punjabs,  Badal said that Eastern and Western Punjab should collectively work out an exchange program of sharing expert coaches and providing services of such coaches to each other to get best talent from the rural belts.  Congratulating the Pakistan team on winning Asian Cup Kabaddi,  Badal said that in Indo-Pak games, whosoever wins it is the Punjab that wins. He gave away prize of Rs. 15 lakh to the winning team and 10 Lakh to the Runners UP Indian Kabaddi team.Earlier in a thrilling match defeated India by 37-32, Sri Lanka got the third position whereas Iran was on the fourth position.  Rana Mohammad Iqbal, Speaker Punjab Assembly also spoke on the occasion.
