On the eleventh day of Dr BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016, four matches were held in the grounds of Government Ripudaman College, Nabha, today. From tomorrow, the knockout matches would be held. Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra was the chief guest for today’s matches.In Pool A matches of men section, India scored their fifth victory by defeating England by 56-37 and entered the semi finals. With four victories, the England team also entered the semis. Similarly, in Pool A match of women section, Indian eves defeated Sri Lanka by 51-12 and entered the semi finals. From this pool, the second team entering the semi finals is Kenya.The semi finals would be played between India vs USA and Iran vs England in men section while in women section, these matches would be played between India vs New Zealand and USA vs Kenya. In other matches of the men section held today, Canada defeated Sierra Leone by 48-35 and Sweden defeated Sri Lanka by 55-23.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included MLAs Vaninder Kaur Loomba and Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur, Punjab Kabaddi Association Senior Vice President Tajinder Singh Middukhera, vice president Hari Singh Preet Tractors, Senior Akali leader Makhan Singh Lalka, Satvir Singh Khatra and Randhir Singh Rakhra, Nagar Council President Gursewak Singh Golu, Nardev Singh Aakri, Punjab Tourism Development Corporation chairman Surjit Singh Ablowal, Deputy Commissioner Ramvir Singh, SSP Gurmit Singh Chauhan, Sports Department Deputy Director Rupinder Ravi, Assistant Director Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer Yograj Singh, besides several others.

MATCH 1: MEN SECTION: INDIA DEFEAT ENGLAND 56-37:

In the first match of the day, India defeated England by 56-37. For India, raiders Sultan and Sandeep scored 10 points each, while stoppers Narinder Singh and Ranjodh Singh secured 4 and 2 points respectively. For England, raiders Gurdit Singh scored 14 and Gurdeep Singh scored 12 points.

MATCH 2: MEN SECTION: CANADA DEFEAT SIERRA LEONE BY 48-35:

In second match, Canada defeated Sierra Leone by 48-35. For Canada, raiders Manvir Singh scored 12 and Kulwinder Singh Kinda Biharipuria scored 10 while stoppers, Baljit Singh Saidoke and Amandeep Singh secured 3 points each. For Sierra Leone, Joseph scored 13 and Libe scored 7 points and stopper Saido and Liverpool secured 2 and 1 point respectively.

MATCH 3: MEN SECTION: SWEDEN DEFEAT SRI LANKA BY 55-23:

In third match of the day, Sweden defeated Sri Lanka by 55-23. For Sweden, raiders Akash and Harjinder scored 7 points each and stoppers Varinder secured 8, Harwinder secured 6 and Jap Singh secured 5 points. For Sri Lanka, Pardeep scored 9 and Abdul scored 3 while stoppers Sampath and Vasantha secured 3 and 2 points respectively.

MATCH 4: WOMEN SECTION: INDIA DEFEAT SRI LANKA BY 51-12:

The last match of the day proved one sided as Indian eves defeated Sri Lanka with a big margin of 51-12. For India, raiders Meena and Suman scored 6 points each and stopper Randeep and Sukhdeep secured 5 points each. For Sri Lanka, Raider Damyanti and Disankiya scored 3 and 2 points respectively and stopper Somya secured 1 point.
