The matches on the tenth day of Dr BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016, a total of four matches were held in the Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Sports Stadium, Chohla Sahib in district Tarn Taran today. In today's matches, Iran and Kenya in men section while USA and Sierra Leone in women section registered victories over their opponents.After today’s victories, Iran and USA from pool B of men section while New Zealand and USA from Pool B of women section entered the semi finals of Dr BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016.Member of Parliament Mr Ranjit Singh Brahmpura was the chief guest for today’s matches and also inaugurated the newly constructed Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Sports Stadium, here.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included MLAs Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Virsa Singh Valtoha, Hari Singh Zira, Manjit Singh Manna, Harmit Singh Sandhu and Baljit Singh Jalalusma, former Jathedat Singh Sahib Bhai Jasvir Singh Rode, former minister Vir Singh Lopoke, Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda, SSP Manmohan Sharma, International Hockey Player Jugraj Singh DSP and Amandeep Kaur DSP, Assistant Director Sports Department Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer Sukhbir Kaur, besides several others.Punjabi singer Kaler Kanth enthralled the audience with his performance.
MATCH 1: MEN SECTION: IRAN DEFEAT USA BY 45-34:
In first match of the day, Iran defeated USA by 45-34. For Iran, raiders Sian Khalil scored 10, Behnam Javed scored 9 and Payeman scored 4 points, while stoppers Ali Safari secured 5 and Aamir secured 4 points. Similarly, for USA, raiders Baljit Singh Balli scored 11, Judge scored 6 and Harwinder Happy scored 5 points and stoppers Navi Johal secured 3 and Donte secured 2 points for their team.
MATCH 2: MEN SECTION: KENYA DEFEAT ARGENTINA BY 60-34:
In second match of the day, Kenya defeated Argentina by 60-34. For Kenya, raiders Rambo scored 24 points and Holix scored 15 points and stoppers Malaba secured 5 and Robert secured 3 points for their team. For Argentina, Bruno and Alexander scored 10 and 7 points respectively.
MATCH 3: WOMEN SECTION: USA DEFEAT NEW ZEALAND BY 29-28:
In a nail biting match, USA eves defeated New Zealand by 29-28. For USA, raiders Guramrit Kaur Hari Khalsa scored 8 points, Nova and Ilyn scored 4 points each and stoppers Fobo secured 7 and Cadis secured 4 points. For New Zealand, raiders Elizabeth Motu scoted 10 and Crofit scored 4 points and stoppers Taylor Ford and Cathlyn secured 4 and 3 points respectively.
MATCH 4: WOMEN SECTION: SIERRA LEONE DEFEAT TANZANIA BY 50-25:
In the fourth and last match of the day, Sierra Leone defeated Tanzania by 50-25. This was the first victory of Sierra Leone in the sixth edition of World Cup Kabaddi, while it was Tanzania’s third consecutive loss. For Sierra Leone, raiders Ramatu scored 12 and Dolce scored 9 points and stoppers Koroma and Karbu secured 9 and 7 points respectively. For Tanzania, raiders Hanis scoted 14 while stopper Salima secured 2 points for their team.
