The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today asked the Power Development Department to inform them about steps being taken by the department to recover electricity charges from the Estates Department as well as present occupants of government quarters and offices of Civil Secretariat.The Committee met here, under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mian Altaf Ahmad to discuss the CAGs Audit paras No 3.16 and 3.17 (2014-15) of Power Development Department.Legislators, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Javid Mustaffa Mir, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Rajesh Gupta, R. S. Pathania and Qaiser Jamsheed Lone attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make the Committee fruitful and result oriented. Threadbare discussions were held on the revenue losses of the Department as pointed out by the CAG in the audit paras and what steps be taken by the concerned to reduce it. 

The Committee stressed on concerned authorities to implement CAGs report on ground level.Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department, Dheeraj Kumar apprised the Committee about the pointed out by CAGs audit paras and what action has been taken by them to recover the arrears of electric charges from the Estates department as well as from occupants of government quarters.The Committee sought Action Taken Report from the Power Development Department regarding the audit paras which were discussed in the meeting. Later, the Committee dropped Audit paragraph No. 3.17 unanimously.Among others, Accountant General, CAG, J&K, H. Abbas, Managing Director, JKPDC, Shah Faisal, senior officers of Power Development Department and Assembly Secretariat were also present on the occasion.
