Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday wrote to the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister to seek extension of the November 11 night deadline for the acceptance of demonetised currency at nursing homes, private hospitals and chemist shops to November 30.In his letter to Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley, Yadav said the extension will save the common man from problems in case of medical emergencies and admissions in private hospitals. The Chief Minister said a large section of society still is dependent on private sector for healthcare. He said a poor farmer or an ordinary man is facing an uphill task in getting admission to private hospitals and nursing homes and even buying medicines at chemist shops in case of accidents and other medical emergencies after Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were demonetised with effect from November 8 midnight. The Chief Minister said people have been put to great inconvenience due to demonetisation and sought the personal intervention of both Modi and Jaitley to alleviate the people's sufferings.
