Director Information and Public Relations, Shri R.S. Negi asked the Officers of the Department to adopt proactive approach to  disseminate policies and programmes of the State Government in right perspective. He was presiding over a review meeting of the senior officers and District Public Relations Officers of Information and Public Relations Department, here today.Shri Negi said that the Department would launch a special publicity campaign next month on completion of four years of present Government to educate the people regarding policies and programmes of the State Government. He said that this would help the people to derive maximum possible benefits of the welfare programmes launched by the State Government. He said that the officers should work hard to achieve various targets so as to perform their duties in a better manner. He said effective public relations requires a knowledge based on analysis and understanding, of all the factors that influence public attitudes toward the organization. 

While stressing the need to effective use of social media for better information management and public relations, Shri Negi said that the PR professionals should equip themselves with latest communication skills to catch-up with the changing trends in media. He said that in the present changing media landscape, greater stress had to be given on better and effective use of new media. He said that the officers and other field functionaries of the Department had been equipped with latest equipments so that they could discharge their duties effectively. He urged the officers to adopt proactive and professional approach so as to make publicity campaign a success.The Director said that multimedia vans would be provided in all the districts for effective dissemination of policies and programmes of the State Government upto grass root level. He said that these multi-media vans would be equipped with Public address system, LED TV, publicity literature etc. He asked the district officers to prepare road map for the purposed route of the Publicity van so that the same could have maximum impact.Shri Negi said that the district officers should hold regular Press Conferences of concerned Ministers and other public representatives in their respective districts highlighting major welfare programmes initiated by the State Government. He said that the officers should identify success stories in their respective districts and publicize the same in print as well as electronic media. 

Laying stress on proper space management in the print media, Shri Negi said that all the Officers of the Department should constantly monitor news and views appearing in the media and provide sufficient positive stories to the media to meet its demand.He advised the officers to provide proper feedback regarding the policies and programmes of the State Government. He said that this would not only help in establishing better understanding between the Government and the masses but also help the Government in taking corrective measures. He said that the PR professional could play an effective role in changing public attitude and view point regarding various Government schemes and decisions.Shri Negi said that apart from adequate use of all possible modern media, the Department should ensure optimum use of traditional folk media troupes. He said that Song and Drama unit of the Department should regularly perform in rural areas of the State to educate the people regarding schemes and programmes of the Government. He said that the officers of the department should maintain professional and personal relations with the journalists for better public relations.
