With the objective to spread the message of sanitation and cleanness in the country, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh today flagged off month long ‘Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) Swachh Bharat Tour de Rotary’ from Rotary Bhawan, Jammu.IGP Jammu Danish Rana and Commissioner JMC Manmohan Singh were also present on the occasion.The rally was organized by Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation. It was organized to commemorate 100 years of services provided by Rotary Foundation which raises funds for humanitarian service projects including clean and green India projects.Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister said that cyclists from across the nation are participating in this event. Dr Singh said that the National Level events like today’s cycle rally provide opportunities for strengthening internal ties in the nation and promote unity. It also acts as the perfect platform for culture and knowledge exchange. 

Deputy Chief Minister further said that the event will also help in spreading the message of peace, brotherhood and national integration besides making people aware of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.“Cyclists are spreading the message of national integration and peoples active participation in making our country clean and green by dedicating their few hours daily to carry forward Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, Dr Singh Said.Deputy Chief Minister said that these participants will act as brand ambassadors of positivity and take a message of beautiful culture, heritage, hospitality and peace with them across the nation.“Among these turbulent times, it is essential that the people living outside Jammu and Kashmir are made aware of positive things happening in the state besides the unrest”, Deputy Chief Minister added.About 22 cyclists will cover the 4500 Kms in 33 days with 27 flag-off points across India. The participants will travel through Delhi, Jaipur, Gandhi Nagar, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram to reach Kanyakumari on the December 9, 2016.Among others, President Rotary club Madras, Ambalavanan, Coordinator Dr Dushyant Choudhary, President Rotary Club Jammu Tawi, B.R Chandan, Rotarians from Chennai and Jammu, prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
