District Development Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz today inaugurated ten day workshop cum training on GEO-MGNREGA programme.The workshop has been organized by the Rural Development Department to train its officials about data compilation and updating through Geographic Information System (GIS) for Geo- tagging of MNREGA assets- a project started by union Ministry of Rural Development under its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Pilot Project initiative. Around 56 trainees which included GRS, VLWs, MPWs, Technical Assistants, Junior Engineers drawn from Gool, Sangaldan, Batote, Gandhri, Gundi Dhram, Rajgarh and Ramban blocks would be imparted the training.ACD, GH Kripak, BDOs and other officers shall monitor the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC impressed upon the participants for availing this opportunity to ease their job by this innovative and comprehensive programme.He further said that it is a pilot project to be started which will use the remote sensing technology to capture the status of work sites before the start of work and after the completion of the work.During the interaction resource persons revealed that Mahatma Gandhi NREGA is under process to prepare a strategy for nationwide rollout and evolve parameters for standardization with an objective to link GIS with decentralized planning with decentralized planning, preparing labour budget, programme implementation and asset monitoring & evaluation.
