Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today visited Government Medical College & Hospital, Jammu to enquire about the condition of people injured in cross-border firing last night in RS Pura.The Minister was informed about the treatment being provided to the patients shifted from border areas. The Minister directed the hospital authorities and concerned doctors to provide best possible medicare facilities to them, besides ensuring that the patients get free medicines.The Minister also interacted with the patients to know about the medical treatment being given to them and assured all possible support from the government during tough time on border areas.Sham Lal also visited Govt Hospital, RS Pura to take stock of the medical facilities available in the hospital to provide immediate medical assistance to the people living in border areas.

He directed the doctors and staff to remain vigilant, especially during night hours so that injured persons can be attended in time and referred to GMC&H, in case of high medical emergency. Sufficient stock of drugs and first aid equipments should be maintained in the hospital, he added.The Minister directed the hospital management to keep adequate number of ambulances on stand-by for shifting the injured patients to the hospital.  Speaking on the occasion, the Minster appealed the people to move in make shift camps established by the district administration for their safety during cross-border firing.The Minster informed the people that all the basic amenities have been made available in these camps and concerned camp officers have been directed to remain available there round the clock.Later, the Minister started black-topping work of border road from Badyal Qazian to Baje Chak being  constructed at the cost of Rs. 60 lakh.
