Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed, today chaired a meeting regarding Special Summary Revision of Electoral rolls for the registration of eligible voters in the district.ADDC Anantnag, CEO, AROs, AEROs, BLOs and representatives of political parties attended the meeting.The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon concerned AROs, AEROs and BLOs to ensure cent percent registration of eligible electorate and directed them to undertake sensitization campaigns at Tehsil and Block levels.It was given out that Chief Education Officer shall organize Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programmes so that eligible voters can get themselves registered before December 15, 2016 in order to exercise their right to vote.

It was impressed in the meeting that the process of additions, deletions and modifications will have to be completed by December 15,, 2016, as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.With respect to the EPIC coverage, it was informed that the district has already achieved 95.11% progress and remaining process is going on in full swing.The DC stressed the need of attaining 100% EPIC coverage so that, left-out eligible voters would be able to exercise their franchise.The representatives of the political parties were advised to identify the BLAs so that requisite training shall be imparted to them.The Deputy Commissioner also said that the EROs and AEROs must ensure transparency in the registration process and in an error-free manner.
