A delegation of Gujjar (Tribals) from Jammu and Kashmir led by Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Gani Kohli, attended National Tribal Carnival-2016 which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at Delhi on Tuesday. The Gujjars (tribals) from Jammu and Kashmir were the toast of the first National Tribal Carnival, 2016. All of members had come clad in their traditional attire.The 400-strong contingent led by Mr Kohli appraised the Prime Minister about the issues pertaining to the tribal population. Mr Kohli lauded Modi for appreciating problems and struggles of tribals in his speech at the function. He further apprised the Prime Minister that his ‘development of all sections vision’ should also include the welfare of the tribals across Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Kohli while highlighting the problems faced by the Jammu and Kashmir tribals appealed the Prime Minister to announce special package for the tribals under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Youjna (RKVY) so that the economic condition of the population is uplifted.Earlier Prime Minister told the delegation that he was fortunate to have had the opportunity to undertake social work among tribals in his youth.
