Hailing the “unwavering” support extended by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and its adopting of a resolution in this regard, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday said need is to take practical steps than adopting resolutions. In a statement issued to KNS, Shah urged the OIC member states to stress upon India to end the human rights violations in held Kashmir and fulfill the promises kept with the people of this state. He also termed it a “big diplomatic victory” for Pakistan the garnering of support of nations like Turkey, China, Iran, and 57 OIC countries to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.Condemning the state administration’s approach towards employees, Shah said employees are the respectable part of our society and “we won’t leave them at the mercy of the situation”. “The puppet authorities used coercive measures against each and every section of the society. The suppressive tactics against employees will prove detrimental for the administration. This is a sheer anti-employee and anti-people approach. The employees shouldn’t feel neglected; we are with them,” he said.

Expressing strong resentment against the arbitrary arrests of youth, the DFP chairman said the government has waged a full-fledged war against youth and is ruining their career. “Worst part is that even minors are pushed behind bars in the name of stone-pelting. The authorities must stop using brute force against the people,” he said.Shah appealed the world leadership to “listen to your conscience and support our cause”. He said Kashmir is a political issue and needs to be resolved through tripartite talks.Hailing people’s resolve and steadfastness, Shah said the way people are resisting the forces is a golden chapter of our history. “We are hopeful that people of Jammu Kashmir would continue to pursue the mission of martyrs,” he said.

Alluding to history, Shabir Ahmad Shah said hypocrites of the likes of Mir-e-Jaafar, and Abdullah bin Ubbay exist in every era but the freedom movement continues at its own pace while exposing such double-dealers. “For a greater goal requires greater sacrifices. People should remain vigilant of their enemies and their machinations and must bear in mind that India is on a mission of ethnic cleansing in Jammu Kashmir. Even for trivial matters are Kashmiri people subjected to bullets while as in Indian states, gun isn’t used come what may,” he said.“Our children are butchered at the behest of collaborators and as such our youth are pushed to the wall and they pick up guns,” he added.Shabir Ahmad Shah reiterated his appeal to people to follow the protest program issued by the joint resistance leadership in letter and spirit besides stressed on unity. He also stressed on taking utmost care of the needy and making the Bait-ul-Maal committees pro-active. (KNS)
