Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Thursday chaired an inter-departmental meeting here to discuss the ‘Jammu & Kashmir Draft Policy for Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants-2016’.Administrative Secretaries of PDD, I&C, H&UD, S&T, Law and other senior officers were present.Detailed deliberations were held over the Draft Policy in light of the comments/inputs received from various departments/ stakeholders, for incorporation in the Policy before it is approved for notification.The main objectives of the Policy shall be to contribute to solar capacity addition and fulfillment of the Solar targets set by the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) for Jammu and Kashmir i.e 450MW by the year 2022.The MNRE has designated Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) as the nodal agency to undertake the solar rooftop program in the State.The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has already notified the J&K Solar Power Policy-2013 which, inter alia, provides for encouraging solar power generation to harness vast solar potential in the State and to promote large scale Grid Connected Solar Power Plants to achieve the collective targets set by
