Department of Surgical Oncology, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today held a cancer awareness camp at District Hospital Baramulla to generate more awareness about the deadly disease.The Department of Surgical Oncology in collaboration with Directorate of Health, Kashmir (DHSK) have organized several such camps during which many patients have been operated upon as a part of “Mobile SKIMS” initiative.During the camp at Baramulla six surgeries were performed at the District Hospital by well known Oncologists of the SKIMS Hospital.On the occasion, Medical superintendant District Hospital Baramulla highlighted the importance and need of organizing such camps in District Hospitals of the valley. He said that main objective of these programmes was to provide medical treatment to those cancer patients on their door steps who are unable to afford treatment outside the State or abroad.
