Chief Justice of India Justice T S Thakur met thousands of people including his relatives and villagers while conducting a day long tour of his native district along with senior most Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court. The Chief Justice inaugurated Justice DD Thakur Memorial library at District Court Complex Ramban, Community hall at Batroo, Munsiff Court at Koochi and laid foundation stones for Public Park at Ukhral and new court building at Honga.
Earlier, Guard of honour was also presented to Chief Justice of India at district court complex at Ramban followed by court inspection and interaction with advocates of district court and civil society members.The Chief Justice of Supreme Court was accompanied by Justice Anil R Dave, Justice A.M Khanwilkar, Justice D Y Chandrachud, Chief Justice of High Court of J&K Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayti Raj and Law, Justice and Parliamentary affairs, Abdul Haq Khan, Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation and Judges of J&K High Court Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, Justice M.Y Mir, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Justice Alok Aradhe, Justice Ali Mohd Magrey, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Justice B. S. Walia, spouses of the Judges of Supreme Court and High Court, Registrar General Ashok Kumar Koul, Principal Secretary to Honourable Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir M.Y. Akhoon, Registrar Vigilance R S Jain, Director Judicial Academy Ab.Rashid Malik, Principal and District Session Judge Kalpana Revo along with judicial officers of J&K Judiciary, IGP Danish Rana, DIG Nisar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Aijaz, Director Rural Development Department Pardeep Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban Randeep Kumar other civil and police officers, dignitaries and guests.
The main function was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Ukhral wherein the Chief Justice of J&K High court gave his welcome address followed by speech in which he mentioned about meagre pendency of cases above five years in Ramban district. He also underlined the contribution and relevance of Court library, Community hall and new Munsiff court. The senior Judges of Supreme Court addressed the public with their thoughtful and visionary speeches and the Chief Justice of India presented the inaugural address andinformative speech which touched the hearts of people. The vote of thanks was presented by Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir who felt his gratitude to the guests and dignitaries and appreciated the efforts of organisers of these events. The Chief Justice of India lauded the efforts of Judges of Supreme Court in making the Judicial pillars enough strong to provide speedy and efficient Justice to the people. He said that along with clean air, clean environment and employment, the public should also be provided equal and fair justice. The newly court office at Kunchi will reduce the sufferings of local people and provide them door step justice who otherwise had to travel long distance for petty issues.Recalling the efforts of his father Late Justice D D Thakur in developing this hilly region, he added that numerous changes have taken place so far as the development scenario is concerned. He emphasised on importance of English in the curriculum of education and said that only well established system of education can impact the students. He also urged the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to open Degree College at Ukhral so that students of hilly pockets may be able to get higher education at their door step. In his concluding remarks, the Chief Justice of India mentioned about the beauty of mountainous region and said that he will remain connected with the local people and the beautiful areas.Besides RDD Minister also welcomed the top brass of Judiciary and assured that various developmental works including construction work of new court complex which shall be taken up and completed on priority basis.
Meanwhile, a cultural programme of local songs was also presented by the students on the occasion which was appreciated by the Chief Justice of India and other guests. He said that the students of these rural areas have the tendency to elevate their career which is possible if they get opportunity.Pertinently, the public library building at Ramban equipped with modern facilities has to ensure the availability of numerous books related to the law for the advocates with reading facility while as the Community hall Batroo shall be exclusively thrown open for public utility with multipurpose functions from normal programmes to the marriage ceremonies and even more. One portion of the hall shall also be utilised for setting up public library. The Rural Development Department has taken painstaking efforts for about three years to culminate the project of huge double storey building at Batroo.Similarly, new Munsiff Court office at Kunchi for which requisite staff has also been sanctioned to make it functional shall also act like legal cornerstone for habitants. Besides, this the concerned agencies have also identified and acquired a piece of land at Honga for constructing new full-fledged and independent court complex and till the construction and culmination of project, the routine work of court shall run smoothly in the make shift building at Kunchi.Since, hamlet Batroo of Village Dhanmasta is the native place of Justice T S Thakur, large number of people including very close relatives, associates and prominent citizens met with him overwhelmingly.
