Minister for Rural Development Department, Mr. Abdul Haq today reviewed the performance of various developmental activities going on in district Kulgam. While reviewing the performance, he directed the officers to focus on the developmental performance at micro-level so that quality work is ensured. He exhorted upon the executing agencies to expedite the execution of ongoing and new developmental works as limited working season is left. The Minister was accompanied by Member of Parliament, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Laway and MLA Noorabad, Mr. Abdul Majeed Padar.
The Deputy Commissioner apprised the minister that against the approved outlay of Rs 123.64 Cr, Rs 38.29 Cr is available out of which expenditure of Rs. 24.65 Cr has been made so far.The Minister was told that under NABARD, a span of 12 kms of road-length has been macadamized including the Arwani-Yaripora-Noonmai road. Besides, 03 out of the 07 washed out bridges have been completed and kept open for vehicular movement.
For the current year 12 schemes have been targeted for R&B which include the upgradation, widening of roads and construction of new roads. The Minister was informed that Damhal-Laisoo bridge and Nilow-Areh bridge will be thrown open in the next month.Owing to the shortage of cement, which consequently hampers the ongoing developmental works, the Minister assured that adequate stock of cement shall be kept available within a week’s time.Detailing the projects of the PMGSY, concerned officers briefed the Minister that work is in full swing on all the projects and Shamipora-Wanpora bridge is ready for inauguration. Besides, the science blocks of GDC Kulgam and GDC Kilam have been completed.The MLA Noorabad sought the status of development of various schemes in Noorabad constituency and he felt satisfied with the performance of executing agencies.
Under PHE sector, 14 schemes are going on including Tengam-Tenbal, Halan, Turka Tachloo, Gundipora, Jogipora, Berigam and Khudwani Kwaki Bazaar under NRDWP. Under AIBP, 15 schemes are under execution. Banimullah canal has been made functional which is irrigating 1547 hec of land, the Minister was told.The Minister also reviewed the performance of different sectors including power, health, education, rural development, social forestry, animal husbandry and industries.The Minister called for the speedy execution of developmental works. Besides, he sought inter-departmental coordination and called upon the rural development department to rope in different departments so that convergence under MGNREGS is optimally utilized.The meeting was attended by all the district officers including SSP Kulgam, S.E R&B and PHE, Exens of R&B, PHE, PDD and PMGSY, DPO, CPO, ACR, ACD, CMO, CEO, besides the district officers of Horticulture, Agriculture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Transport, Forest, Food, Labour, Employment and Industries departments.
