With an aim to create awareness among the voters and as a part of Swachhta Pakhwada which is being celebrated from October 1 to October 15, an awareness program on SVEEP and SBM was organized today at Chenani.Speaking on the occasion, MLA Chenani, Mr. Dina Nath Bhagat urged the citizens of Chenani to maintain cleanliness in and around their houses. He further said that many diseases can be prevented by keeping the surroundings clean.A rally was also taken out by the students which started from Bus Stand Chenani and finally culminated at the Panchayat Ghar Chenani. Holding the banners and placards in their hands, the students raised the slogans on Swachh Bharat and SVEEP and created awareness among the common masses about the importance of cleanliness and ‘Right to Vote ‘.Students also threw light on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation and Swachh Bharat Mission. A Skit on SBM was also presented by the artists on the occasion.
Underlining the importance of SVEEP, DC Udhampur, Mr. Niraj Kumar said that the main aim of this programme is to inform and educate people about the importance of voting and to motivate voters with a hope to make Indian Democracy more participative through SVEEP. SVEEP is designed based on the socio-economic and demographic profile of the state. He also stressed upon the people to maintain cleanliness.Later, the MLA distributed cheques among the SBM beneficiaries.ACD Udhampur Joginder Rai, Dy .DEO Sapna Kotwal, SDM Chenani Davinder Sharma, District Social Welfare Officer Rachna Sharma, BDO Chenani Dr. Shavi , CDPO Chenani ,BMO Chenani besides large number of AWWs, AWHs,ASHAs and students were also present on the occasion.
