‘Sewa Kendars’, most path breaking & innovative initiative of Punjab Government: Sukhbir Singh Badal

People of state availing 78 services of various departments in a hassle free manner

“The Sewa Kendars were visualized and operationalized as an initiative to provide government services to the people near their doorstep and are counted on top amongst the most path breaking and innovative initiatives of Punjab Government.” Disclosing this, the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that this novel and noble venture would ensure that people get services concerned with the government departments in a hassle free, corruption free, time bound and transparent manner.Detailing about the services at the sewa kendars, an official spokesman said that 78 services related to various departments including Revenue, Health, Social Security, Women and Child Development, Welfare, Home, Agriculture, Personnel, Rural Development & Panchayats, Local Bodies are being provided at these sewa kendars.

Divulging more, the spokesman also said that as a consequence of the establishment of these sewa kendars, people don’t need to make endless rounds of government offices for availing services such as Income Certificate, Birth & Death Certificate, Residential Certificate, Permission for all kinds of social benefits, Shagan Scheme, Backward Area certificate, Senior Citizen Identity certificate, Caste certificate, Renewal of arms license and permission for new arms license, Permission for loud speaker, Marriage certificate, Marriage registration, Seeds and fertilizers license for agricultural purposes, Rural Area certificate, Character certificate, Dependent certificate, Water Supply connection, Sewerage connection and Bus Pass.He also revealed that w.e.f. 26th September, 2016 the power bills can also be deposited at these sewa kendras. The services being provided at these sewa kendras are to be compulsorily given in a time bound manner under the Right to Service Act, 2011 and a reasonable fees is charged for the services provided. 

According to the spokesman, at the time of establishing these sewa kendars the Punjab Government has ensured that the distance between 2 urban sewa kendars should not be more than one and a half to 2 K.M. and a sewa kendar must be established after every 4-5 villages. The spokesman also said that earlier, people had to traverse 20-25 K.M. to avail the benefits entailed in the government services but now the people can avail the government services near their doorstep.Disclosing more, the spokesman said that in case of any difficulty in receiving government services at these kendars, a person can contact the state level control room and lodge a complaint on any day except Sunday from 9 AM to- 5 PM at 0172-2601293, 8968593812-13.
