Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the ‘Cosmetic Face Change Exercise’ of the Congress led UPA government to reshuffle the Cabinet today would be hardly able to save the party from decimation as the countrymen were totally fed up from the anti-people policies of this government. Talking to the media persons on the sidelines of a Devki Jain college function here today, the Chief Minister said that the attempt of the Congress leadership to give a fresh look to its government by inducting new faces in Cabinet would hardly make any difference as the countrymen were very well aware of its anti-people stance. He said that rather than resorting to such tactics the Congress party must enact pro-people policies which could ensure the development and progress of the country. Badal said that had the Congress led UPA government taken solid steps to control rampant corruption of its Ministers there was no need for such exercise. He said that rather than adopting such tantrums the UPA Government must frame pro-people policies for the welfare of the country. Training his guns against the UPA government for frequent hike in price of petroleum and diesel, the Chief Minister said that the exorbitant hike in the price of Petrol and diesel has exposed the real face of the Congress party which claims to be the votary of common man. Lashing out at Congress party, the Chief Minister reiterated that the UPA government has broken the back bone of a common man by increasing the prices of essential commodities in their tenure adding that the inflationary trends in the country have accentuated the worries of the common man. He further said that recent hike in petrol and diesel prices would increase the miseries of the common man which was already reeling due to the high rate of inflation. Terming that in the regime of UPA government the corruption has surpassed all its previous records, the Chief Minister said that this government would go down in the history as the most corrupt government of the country. He further said that due to the misrule of the Congress a large number of social maladies like unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and others have made inroads in the country due to which the agonies of the common man have increased manifolds. The Chief Minister said that the countrymen were fed up from the anti-people policies of the UPA government adding that due to its anti people policies the graph of UPA government was declining across the country. He further said that the countrymen were eagerly waiting for the general elections slated to be held in year 2014 to show them a door. Badal also said that the results of the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat assembly elections would prove that the people of the country were eagerly waiting for routing out the Congress from the country. Earlier addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the state government was making stupendous efforts to provide quality education to the students. Badal said that though since independence the state had only 56 colleges but due to the persistent efforts made by the alliance government around 17 new colleges were opened in the state in last one year. He further said that when they had taken over the reigns of the state government there were only four universities in the state but now nine new universities have been opened by the government.
