A delegation of National Conference, led by Ms Sakina Ittoo, former Minister, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan here today.The delegation apprised the Governor about the obtaining ground situation and hardships being faced by people due to the prevailing unrest and demanded conspicuous presence of responsible government functionaries to handle the situation in the rural areas. The delegation also expressed the concerns of parents and students about the recently announced examination schedule which they consider insensitive particularly because the students have not had the opportunity of covering the syllabus. The NC members also complained about losses to fruit growers due to the daily closure of Jawahar Tunnel and the severe traffic jams on the Highway.

The delegation appealed to the Governor to intervene and advise the State Government to systematically address the concerns of the public and handle the existing situation.Stressing the crucial importance of peace being urgently restored in the State, the Governor urged the NC members to continue with their endeavours in this regard.The delegation led by Ms. Ittoo included Mr. Altaf Ahmad Wani, MLA Pahalgam; Mr. Abdul Majeed Bhat, MLA Homeshalibugh; Mr. Showkat Ahmad Ganie, MLC; Dr. B.A. Veeri, MLC; Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar, MLC; Mr. Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, MLC; Mr. Mir Saifullah, former Minister; Mr. Javid Ahmad Dari Dar, former Minister; Mr. Imran Nabi Dar, Vice- President, JKYNC; and Mr. Peer Aafaq Ahmad, District President, Srinagar.
