Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Mondaystressed on timely completion of all ongoing developmental works in the Ganderbal district.The Minister, who is also Chairman District Development Board Ganderbal, was addressing a meeting, convened to discuss and review the pace of progress of developmental works and Action Taken Report (ATR) of last year’s Board decisions and commitments made by Chief Minister regarding the same for the district.Legislators: Main Altaf Ahmad and Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, besides District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Tariq Hussain Ganai, senior officers of different departments, sectoral and district officers were also present at the meeting.On the occasion, Mr. Hanjura asked the district administration Ganderbal to work with utmost dedication and give focused attention for completion of all developmental projects under execution in the district.He exhorted the officers to put in their sincere and dedicated efforts for effective implementation of various government sponsored schemes and prioritizing issues of public interest so that tangible results are realized on the ground level.He also asked the officers to conceive development projects in such a way that the same are completed within the set time-frame to avoid cost overrun. He impressed upon the concerned to ensure implementation of all the DDB decisions in letter and spirit.

Reiterating the commitment of the coalition government headed by Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti to provide improved and better amenities to the people of the State, the Minister said that adequate funds have been released under various sectors like PHE, PDD, RDD, Health, R&B and Education in the district, but need is to utilize them  judiciously.Earlier, DDC Ganderbal gave a detailed resume of the achievements registered during the current year and ATR of the last year. He also gave review of Schemes and programmes under Swachh Bharat, MGNREGA, IAY, Health, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, SSA and NHM sectors.Referring to physical and financial achievements, the Deputy Commissioner informed that out of available outlay of Rs 24.81 crore, Rs 12.44 crore, were utilized for the execution of various developmental works and welfare schemes during the current fiscal up to ending August, 2016.He said that 4.30 kms of road length were macadamized, 2 bridges were completed while as the construction work on 4 other bridges are apace. Under PMGSY, out of 13 roads projects, 2 were completed. 

Similarly under PHE sector, out of 22 water supply schemes 13 are already completed, while as 5 more schemes are targeted for completion during current financial year.Under Irrigation and Youth Services & Sports sector, it was informed that several works were identified and estimates prepared under convergence programme.In Education sector, works to the extent of Rs. 2 crore in elementary education sector and works to the tune of Rs 50 lakh are under process in through convergence mode.Under Rural Development sector, 962 works were completed under MGNREGA generating 2.31 lakh man-days in the district.Detailed discussions were also held on functioning of Social Welfare Department. It was given out that the department has achieved the targets fixed under various schemes like Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) in full.While taking review of Agriculture sector, it was informed that 47 Rehbar-e-Ziriats (ReZs) were posted in the district recently. The Minister directed the concerned to conduct field visits and aware farmers about the latest techniques for increased production.Threadbare discussions were also held on pace of progress of Degree College Kangan, development of Rock Garden at Gangerhama upto Watalbagh and Floating Garden at Ahansan and Malhar Hi-Tech Nursery.MLA’s Main Altaf and Sheikh Ishfaq also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various demands and issues including establishment of Fire and Emergency Service Stations at Ellaqe Fakh and Shaar Pathri areas and other issues related to their respective constituencies and demanded their immediate redressal.
