With an aim to aware the general public about the importance of cleanliness, District Administration Udhampur organized a Mega awareness campaign on “Swach Bharat Abhiyan” to mark the second anniversary of Swach Bharat Abhiyan.Officers of Rural Development Department, District Health Society, Cyclist Association, Civil Society members and NGOs besides local people actively participated in the event to make it a success. District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Niraj Kumar flagged off the Cyclothon rally and joined other participants with a motive to spread the message of Swach Bharat among the general public of the district. Speaking on the occasion, DC sought the cooperation of all the citizens of the district for making mission a success and further said that it is the duty of every citizen to keep the city clean. Stressing on the famous saying 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness, he urged the prominent citizens and the common masses to cooperate with the administration in making the district clean and open defecation free.
The Cyclothon rally commenced from DC Office Udhampur, which after passing through, Slathia Chowk, Ramnagar Chowk, Hospital road, Sallain Talab, Gole Market and Chabutra Bazaar finally culminated at DC office.About 150 cyclists carrying banners of Swachh bharat participated in the cyclothon and generated awareness among the common masses.Various group songs and film shows on importance of cleanliness were also organized.At the end the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners.Earlier, Awareness programme on Swachh Bharat was also held at conference hall, DC office.Chief Medical Officer also highlighted the importance of Leprosy Day and said that Leprosy disease is neither hereditary nor a curse but is a chronic infectious disease mainly involving the skin and nerves caused by bacteria and can be cured.The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Angrez Singh Rana, ACR, Mr. Subhash Dogra, ACD Joginder Rai, PO ICDS, Rakesh Badyal, PO DRDA, Dr J C Mehra, CMO Dr Chander Parkash, DFO Social Forestry, Mr. Rajan Singh, DPO, Mr. Sandeep Seointra, DIO NIC, ARTO, other senior officers, members of Civil society, President and members of Chamber and Commerce and students in large number.
