Students across Kashmir continue to protest against the government decision to conduct examination in November this year. They are not only threatening to boycott the examination on mass scale but also are accusing the government of using them as scapegoats to prove that normalcy has returned to Kashmir Valley.“Government is least bothered about our career but it wants to use us to give an impression to the world that everything in normal in Kashmir,” a large number of students who protested at Gousia Colony Bemina on Thursday morning told news agency CNS.Students protest in different parts of Kashmir including Srinagar. These protests were reported from Bemina, Safakadal, Panthachowk and other parts of Valley. A large group of students from different educational institutes visited CNS office and claimed they will boycott the examination and will not allow government to use them as cannon fodder.The State Board of School Education (BOSE) recently issued the formal date sheet for the conduct of class 10th and 12th annual examination of Kashmir division and as per the notification the annual examination for Class 10th will begin on 15 November 2016 and conclude on 28 November 2016 while for Class 12th the examination will begin on 14 November 2016 and conclude on 3 December 2016. “Let government reveal on what basis they decided to conduct exams.
Students are the main stakeholders, but the government has left them high and dry,” the students said.Some of the students said that they can’t betray those students who are undergoing treatment in different Valley hospitals. “It will be injustice towards our brothers who have suffered pellet and bullet injuries and could not appear in the examination. Instead of laying stress on the examination, the government should find ways and means to take Kashmir population out of traums,” they said. Reports said that scores of students also protested in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. They said that government on the one side is perpetrating atrocities on them and on the other they are asking them to appear in the examinations.The students carried placards saying that they are ready to sacrifice their future for Kashmir. “Boycott boycott examination boycott, Justice for Insha, justice for pellet survivors, all the minors and school going children must be freed from jails, justice for our lost brothers, won’t appear in exams untill kashmir issue is resolved, save children save future" read some of the placards.The students said that Kashmir is a political problem and it should be resolved politically. “We are ready to sacrifice our future for freedom. We won’t appear in any exam unless Kashmir issue is resolved.Students also held a rally South Kashmir’s Anantnag district from Janglat Mandi that culminated outside DC office.In Palhalan Pattan police fired tear-gas shells on a student’s rally when they tried to block the Srinagar-Muzafarabad highway. Reports said that a large number of students amid pro-freedom and anti-government slogans staged a protest in the Palhalan area of North Kahsmir’s Baramulla district. However, police used force to disperse them. Witnesses said that many students including some girl students were injured in police action. (CNS)
