State Congress Chief GA Mir Monday said that Mehbooba Mufti has played “irresponsible role” as opposition leader in 2010 and as a Chief Minister in 2016, resulting in deterioration of situation in Kashmir.“The present regime has so far failed to improve the unrest even for a single day. It is because of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s irresponsible role. She is puzzled leader,” Mir told KNS over phone. He said that it were the efforts made by state mainstream opposition parties that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh led the All Party Delegation to state of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that in 2010, Mehbooba Mufti was lecturing the government to not arrest stone pelters and release all separatists. “She, as a leader of opposition party in 2010, made every effort to topple the government and didn’t extent any cooperation with the then government, in improving situation. Today, all opposition parties are extending cooperation wither government but she has failed to play responsible role to improve the situation. I repeat, she is puzzled leader,” he said.He added that it was first time in the history of Kashmir that separatist leaders have called shutdown even on the Eid. “I don’t think observing shutdown on Eid is good. However, we have to look at the situation that the shutdown call on Eid is called by separatists has takers,” he said.He said that present unrest is also different from 2008 and 2010 uprisings.“Today, the entire Kashmir is affected and there is hardly any town or village which isn’t on roads. It shows the inability of the present government which has failed to improve it from past 66 days,” he added. (KNS)
