Chief Secretary, B.R. Sharma, today reviewed arrangements for celebration of festival of Eid-Ul-Azha in an officers meeting held here today.Principal Secretary Home, R.K. Goyal and DGP, K Rajendra, were also present in the meeting.Chief Secretary took a detailed review of all arrangements with emphasis on security scenario and exhorted upon the officers to make sure that the people do not face any inconvenience on account of basic services related to their respective departments. He asked them to ensure that the festival is celebrated in a total smooth and peaceful manner.He asked the FCS&CA department to see that the essential commodities are being supplied to the people in a hassle free manner besides keeping a strict check on rates and quality of edibles being provided during the festival.The Chief Secretary was informed that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place for smooth celebration of the festival besides checking squads have been activated to monitor the sale and purchase in the markets.Later,  Sharma, in a meeting, took brief review of ongoing developmental projects in the district and directed the authorities to ensure completion of these works in time.

During the meeting, representative of various political parties and social organizations jointly put forth certain issues being faced by the people of the area and sought their early redressal. They demanded immediate renovation of National Highway from Batote to Kishtwar, opening of Hydro electric projects on priority basis to generate employment avenues for locals, disbursement of land compensation among people under PMGSY, PWD, R&B schemes, special recruitment by police department for the district besides establishment of joint venture office in Kishtwar etc.Earlier, DDC Kishtwar GN Balwan gave a brief presentation of physical and financial achievements recorded in the district under different schemes and sectors. He informed that various committees headed by a designated Nodal Officer have been constituted to look into the public issues of specific nature for redressal in a time bound manner. He also informed the public that the famous airstrip for Kishtwar has been sanctioned by the government and the work on which will commence by the end of this year.DIG, Doda Kishtwar Ramban Range, DDC, SSP, CPO, ACD besides district officers attended the meeting.
