Amid unrest in Kashmir, the illegal construction goes unabated in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district while the authorities claimed to have dismantled scores of illegal constrictions.Sources as per KNS correspondent, Bhat Zahoor said that several illegal constructions are ongoing in the district. “The people are taking benefits of the current unrest and are raising illegal constructions from past two months,” sources said.The illegal construction is ongoing in several areas of the district including Naninara Asham, Shahtalpora, Shadipora, Udina Targam and others. “The people who are raising illegal constructions are taking advantage of political approach. They have raised several illegal constructions so far which include some big complexes as well,” sources said.Sources said that in Udina Sumbal, the illegal construction is going on in government land (Kahchari), which was illegally sold by the Lumberdar of Udina, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, son of Mohammad Ishaq resident of Udina Sumbal.Meanwhile, the purchaser of the land told KNS that “the concerned Lumberdar had taken a huge amount of money from us. We demand that the said Lumberdar should be arrested at earliest,” purchaser said.
Meanwhile, a top official said that they have already started a drive and have dismantled scores of illegal constrictions in the district.He said that they also dismantled a big complexes at Naninara Asham which was constructed a mammoth amount of near about 40 lacs.They said that the persons used political influence and forced the authorities to stop the drive.Admitting the facts that illegal constructions are being raised in some areas, Sub District Magistrate Sumbal, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat said, “We dismantled some of the illegal construction but failed to dismantle all the constructions due to the prevailing situation in the valley.”He said that he has received a complaint against the Lumberdar of Udina and has suspended him from his service.However he said that “I am still investigating the matter and whosoever will be found guilty will be dealt with strictly.” (KNS)
