Chairperson,  State Social Welfare Board (SSWB), Prof Nirmal Gupta today reviewed the performance and activities of the NGOs registered with the Board.Prof Gupta reviewed the achievements of the NGOs working with the State Social Welfare Board which runs 700 crèche centres and 30 Family Counseling Centers across the State.It was informed in the meeting that despite two month long violent protests in valley the Board with the full support of its staff members has continued its functioning from the Jammu office.The meeting discussed the difficulties being faced by the NGOs in running the crèche centres and Family Counseling Centres under new guidelines issued by the Central Social Welfare Board. The meeting also ascertained the opinion of the members of NGOs to bring peace in the valley.Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Gupta said that NGOs have great potential to maintain peace in their respective areas and work for the development of the society.Prof. Nirmal Gupta also conveyed that similar exercise will be held in Kashmir region where NGOs will be mobilized to bring normalcy in their respective area.

The heads and representatives of the NGOs present in the meeting apprised the Chairperson about various difficulties faced by them under the new rule and guidelines framed by the Centre. The Chairperson assured them that all efforts will be made by the board to mitigate their problems to enable them to work smoothly.Later, the Chairperson also sought the suggestions from the heads of the participating NGOs to sort out an early solution to end the two month long unrest in the valley, due to which a large number of people have been affected.The head of the NGOs gave various suggestions and hailed the initiative taken by the Chairperson, by calling the local NGOs to seek their suggestions to solve the ongoing crisis in the valley.Among others who were present on the occasion included Former Secy SSWB, Chandra Gupta. Raghunandan Badyal and Daljeet Kour.The meeting ended with the Vote of thanks by the Administrative Officer Vijay Tickoo.
